300/440/550 550 Intake Grate

I've been poking around on Ebay for an intake grate.

Looks like there are several available. I was thinking about going with the PJS intake grate.

Are there better ones out there? They all basically look the same.

Anyone out there have experience with a few of these? Which one works well with a 550 hull?

the best one I've ever used is a split-vein mariner top loader. it has two top loader slats on the sides, and the center is open, so it allows more water flow that a regular top loader that goes all the way across.

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I don't recall seeing one of those on Ebay though.

Do you recall how much you paid for yours?

well, I've paid various prices for them, anywhere from 10 to 40 bux, and some of them were already on skis when I purchased them. I sent one to kenny (motoman96), pm him and see if he still has it. I'm sure he would be willing to part with it, I don't think he uses it.

Is your design more for "peak water speed" racing setup or keeping the pump loaded as best as possiable?
