48mm on 61x?

I just picked up a 48mm Mikuni that was used on a 750ss and Im curious if this would be a good setup to use? I have a 61x engine, with a Factory B pipe, 185 psi girdled head and MSD enhancer. Right now I have the stock carb that came with the 61x(Is that 44mm?).

I really have no clue on what this carb exactly is...it has a purple adapter on top. I can get some pictures later if necessary..the body of it is a silver color.

Any insight is appreciated.

Also, I would need to buy an aftermarket intake manifold correct? Or is it possible to "bore" out my manifold opening to match the opening of the carb?

possibly a buckshot from the description...

Just post a pic and you will probably have your answer quickly.

Most people don't use buckshots for freestyle, but then again, most people on here don't know anything aside from what they've heard.

I hear you on the last part!

I may just end up throwing the whole setup up on ebay for sale..I got a nearly new R&D Intake manifold with the carb. It would probably sell pretty good as a package.

It will be tomorrow before Im able to throw up a picture. Thanks for the response though!

I had a 53mm carb ( keith head I THINK) on my 61x, that was similar, ada head, 185 psi, msd enhancer, b pipe, ingtion advanced...

the big carb was annular discharge, no bombsite, and it worked MUCH better than stock.

I had it on a stock manifold, only the top of mine was bored to 53.

I say you shoudl try it out!

That is some great info...How did you bore out your manifold? Dremel tool?

I don't have much in the carb, so even if it doesn't work im not out much money. Only thing I really need to buy for it is a new flame arrestor..the one that came with it is shot..I will probably look at a Prok I guess.

Im going to post some pictures up here in a couple hours..maybe someone can tell me what it is.

Buckshots are race carbs.

Does that include you?

I didnt bore anything out.. I just bolted it up and ran it.

I havent even looked, but I dont think the bottom of the carb is larger than a stock one ( which is 44)

I used to run a single 48 Powerbomb and then a single 48 Full Spectrum on a dremeled-out stock manifold.

Worked great.

^^thats what you need!

talk to me... we'll talk.

Thanks, but already have a carb. Not looking to spend any where near $450 on a setup. Not saying it isn't worth it..but thats half of what I have in the entire ski.

Thanks to everyone for the great info. I think im going to try this carb out sometime soon. I first want to pull it apart and check everything out..see what size jets it has and all. Then get it installed and do some tuning!
