3m 5200 curing problem

i bought a tube of regular 3m 5200 to glue my bilge pumps down. the tube says it takes a week to fully cure. i applied it 5 days ago and is just barely tack free. the temp has been about 85. i dont know if this is normal or if i got a bad tube. should i wipe it off and use the fast cure? i want to go ride! please help.

i always use regular rtv silicone... have never had one pump break free... dries in hours. wipe it up and silicone it in. just my opinion...

some will say "gas will eat away at the silicone". well i have had puddles of gas soaking around the bilge mounts for more than a week and nothing happened.

What is the cure time on 5200 fast cure? Is it faster than 4200? I know that you have less strength w/ the 4200, but how strong does it need to be to hold down a bilge?

5200 did not hold down my bilge(s). I let it cure for close to a month, fully sanded the spot and cleaned it with acetone. I would definetly make a bracket if at all possible!

Its held down several of mine.

You have to sand and clean the hull AND the plastic bilge bracket.

I have to use a chisel and hammer to remove them, and then it takes a bit of glass from the hull with it.

this is true of 5200, and liquid nails also.
