300sx

I would love to see video of one of these in action with a motor other than a 300 in it. I'm going to pick up my 300sx hull in the next week or so. I'm so excited about this build.

can't wait to see it done man. im looking for a backflip/barrel roll machine for next year. so the bottom strakes on the hull all measure up nicely? looks like it was meant to be. love it man.

Actually the 650SX is narrower in the middle of the strakes, you can see it if you look closely at his pics.

Been busy, but got some time to work on it today.

I read that build, thanks for linking it. I have been riding a FX1 for 15 years so I'm used to a squirrely ski and don't plan on doing much surf. I'm not going to paint till after I have time on the ski so I can add them if needed.

When you cut the 750 pump out go ahead and cut all the way up and around the motor mounts. You get to keep the battery tray too. Wish I would have done it that way, ahhh well.

Not so sure it would work this/that way.

Sorry to interrupt this conversation you are having with yourself :silly: , but why not? Your motor mount spacing to the drive shaft and housing and everything would be correct if you left it all one piece. Would the engine be too far forward? If so, what if you set it back some so the 750 bulkhead was a few inches behind the 300 bulkhead. Then you'd basically have a setback pump and the nozzle would extend beyond the back of the boat. Not what you are going for?

Hehee.

My pump is set back a little over an inch 1/2 the way I did it. If you look at the pic you can see the ride plate mount holes are touching the back. If you set the pump back any further you will have to make the ski longer so what's the point? Yes cutting the mounts will set the motor to far forward. Also it looks like the rocker is some what different or the pump angle. The cut out 750 mount plate is real close to being perfect. I may have to grind a little of the bottom. That is one reason I thinking it wont work that/this way.

What are you doing up front? I see in the one pic you chopped the nose off like I did tonight. Im thinking a plastic bag and some great stuff foam so I have something to sculpt before I lay up glass, then since it would have been put in inside a bag I could remove it after the glass sets up. Im also worried about the way the hull is pointed in the middle up front and I need to square it off to make the nose look right. Im anxious to see what you do there.

I will use two part foam up front and sculpt to the shape I'm looking for lay over it and then dig it out. Going to mount the stock pole over where the fuel cap was. You should use the stock urself. Use the steering set up off the 750 weld to the 300 pole up side down. It will be kinda like rizer bars but free. Sell ur RRP pole for a mag pump.

Far as the bottom I'm not that worried bout it. I think it will be fine as long your not in surf.

You may get a little more "pop" if it were flat.

Got the shaft cut down tonite. Ready to glass the mounts in. Hopely the build will pick up time wise. I would like to ride it in a couple of weeks.
