24-7 bracket question

So the plan is to run a 24-7 bracket I picked up and I am debating on whether to run a stiff pole or spring. I will have the parts to do either so that is not an issue...I've seen the stiff pole setup for such bracket but am curious if anyone is running a pole spring with one. Any one have any pics of a 24-7 bracket using a spring?? ANy required modifications to do so or does it just bolt right up?

Sorry haven't had time to mock anythng up yet.

unless you are doing no handed backflips or no handed barrel rolls you will be at a complete disadvantage everywhere else with a stiff pole..we were just discussing this in another thread

yeah I read that thread...I guess I am just trying to figure out if a pole spring will work just fine with the bracket or not. At first I thought the stiff pole was the way to go but now I am leaning more towards the spring...no handed backflips are not in my future. Plus I don't feel like reinforcing anything this year and I am thinking the stiff setup will be too much force on the bracket mount area.

you might have trouble getting the pivot shaft to stay tight since there are no threads for the pivot shaft to screw into... you might have to use a double nut system at the end of the pivots shaft, kinda like on a stock square.

gonna disagree with you on this.. with a stiff pole you can get more leverage on flat water, the pole is not moving around nearly as much.......... I have even raced my SJ with the XMetal Pole with no problems. I is something you just have to get use to....... I actually now have a hard time riding a ski with a spring....... I feel like I do not have any control over it.........

im sure you would get used to it..for rec. riding or just ripping around i dont see the advantage of having to physically lower and raise your pole.i like to think of it as the pole just stays stationary and you move the ski up and down by bending your knees....i move my pole up and down alot..maybe more than most but i think being able to lower and raise your center of gravity quickly is important..i know im the minority on this one

I have to agree with BK on this one.. I run a stiff pole setup but its just enough so the pole stays where I put it. It took soem getting used to but I love it now. I definatly feel more in control no matter what I am doing. It definatly has its advantages for no handed rolls among other tricks.

like i said i know i the minority on this one but i ride 100% surf and could care less about taking my hands off....think it depends alot on your style and mine is go fast and stay low..

why dont you answer his question about the spring since you probably have that bracket on your ski

I got the stiff pole setup and wouldn't trade it back to spring.
Everytime I get on a spring pole ski, I have a hard time.
This isn't about taking my hands off the bars, I just got used to riding that way and like it a heck of a lot better stiff.

I have been using a 24/7 bracket for about 7 years. The bolt screws into the bracket and I run a single nut on the end. I ground into the stop for the pole spring to ride in.

This pivoting pole works for me.

Thanks for all the advice guys...I think i am going to just stick with my original plan and try out the stiff pole setup with the xmetal dual bolts and see how it goes...can always switch back if I don't like it.

I ran an OEM RN pole with a stiff dual bolt setup. I liked it much better than a spring.

Although other people bitched when they rode my ski.... Not like I really care...

I may try both, stiff to begin with and if I'm having to hold it up too much/move it around I'll grind the crap out of a SN UMI spring I have and put er in.
