2008 sj.... Stock pole shortening....

So as we all know the 2008 SJ is really a FX-1 pole that is already -2"..... I need to shorten this sucker ASAP but my ? is just how much. Being as the pole is already -2" and I am running XFT footholds that set you far back in the tray already.... how much have you guys shortened your poles and what is your opinion on the best freestyle setup, negative inch wise....? Thanks for the input guys.

I run a -4 pole plus a -2 steering setup and feel i could go even shorter. All a preference. Jared runs like - 15 or something crazy on the xft.

Hummm.....I got a -4 pole, the straight bars and plate get me another -1.5, and the bracket supposedly does -1. That's -6.5.

cut it short. I have the adjustable xmetal pole at -4.5 and xmetal steering at -2.5 total of -7. I think its great and I'm 5'10'' with rickter footholds set far back. Probably only an inch forward of where xft holds ride.

It takes some getting used to but makes the ski much easier to maneuver/ride.

So I am also 5-10"....I'm thinking of -3 cut on the already -2 pole for a -5....add the -2 plate and straight bars..... Does this sound like I am in the ballpark..?

just do it a little at a time like everyone else has suggested. Its always easier to go shorter. You can't add material back once you cut.

Where does the pole theoretically need to be if you are 6'3"? Somewhere around the same as the 5'10" guys or shorter? Sorry, first post but i have hawked the site for about two years now. I will be asking alot of questions in the next few weeks since I have a 1991 SN that I am in the process of building up. Whats up yall!

-3 to -4 on your whole setup (pole steering bracket) is a good start and you can always go shorter. It's really personal preference. Some people like a -2 and stock steering.
