Surfriding 2008 SJ.... Shortened, Widened, Reinforced....a work in progress.

Sounds cool. would like to see that when you can. Saves buying a cable!
The TS kit is in the new product forum. Its sold by a guy named shmidty. For the price its a good solution to the 08+ steering issue. But I hope to soon be moving onto a RRP pole with a cold fusion steering setup. TS kit comes with shortened turn plate, cable, mounting bracket for cable to pole. (bracket could definately be improved on....its a lil cheesy imo.....)

x2 knytex is good :):):):) and sold localy. I use ut for everything. Even the 29oz stuff is supriseingly easy to work with. Contours easily. It's just hard to wetout properly because of the thickness. Takes a ton of resin. But I've made a few test panels and even one layer of the 17oz is stupid strong!

Thank you. 6 layers 29oz nytex, with 2 layers of real heavy duty carbon. Used a wood roller to squeeze all xcess out and make this $hit bombproof! So 2 layers nytex, 1 layer carbon, 2 layers nytex, 1 layer carbon, 2 layers nytex. Im going to bolt my foothold plate to this part of the ski so it needs to be super strong.

Not to sound too negative because it looks like you've done good work but is all of that really necessary? I know 17oz biax is 0.044" thick so 29oz has got to be around the 0.075" range. 0.075" times 6 is 0.450" plus some heavy carbon and you're talking about half an inch or more of composite. There is an offshore fishing boat company who's claim to fame is using 14+ layers of 24oz nytex so that the hull can literally stop a high caliber bullet at point blank range. Just seems a massively excessive...and heavy to me.

Yes it is about half an inch thick, I will be bolting my mounting plate for my holds right through the side. It is not heavy if you lay the resin right and use a roller to get rid of all excess. I like to make sure things are stronger than they need to be so I only have to do it right ONCE. And I did the inside of my hull in kevlar, so yes mine is BULLETPROOF also......Necessary, probably not. But its the way I like it......and it looks great!
