Custom/Hybrid 2" Versa plug vs xmetal scupper...

SXR-FOREVER

Finally Flippin
I'm getting a Matrix Pro on order from Trinity and Bobby tells me I have a choice between the 2" Versa plug or an Xmetal scupper. On the EVO XF I have there is an xmetal scupper and it works pretty good minus the little bit of leaking.

How do the versa plugs do? looking for any feedback at all on it so I can make my decision...if you say "Versa plug is the best period" please explain why lol

Thanks

Very happy with mine. Removable, seals well. Sturdy. Obviously you need to keep your bilge free from crap that could block the movement of the ball.

Versa plug works good but drains slow next to a scupper.they both will get stuff stuck in them. the reason for putting a 2 inch tube in is to get thewater out fast. why would you want a 1/2 hole in a 2inch tube? scupper for me i want to water out fast. big deal they leak alittle. i have my pump running when i sit still if i see it pumping water out its time to move.

After having leaky one ways and scuppers I would much rather have a versiplug, I would sacrifice a little time to empty over a sinking ski, add another bilge if it isn't fast enough. The small versiplugs that I have to drain my tray seem do dump pretty quickly given the small orifice. That said, the one way in my REV hull does not seem to leak at all, I wonder what kind of valve is in it....

He's talking about the Versa plug max which is 2inch.

I used to run a wamilton's scupper, and it leaked pretty bad. I run a versiplug(max) now, no leaks. I'll never do a scupper again.
Also, downside to a scupper, if your ski ever gets inverted, the flap will open and flood your ski causing it to sink quicker.
Look into it, I've seen numerous posts about it happening.

I am pretty sure this will still happen with the versiplug unfortunately.

The versiplug max fits in a 2" tube but is the exact same ball and orifice as the smaller versiplug-r types. Kind of misleading if you ask me.

I went against the grain and installed a Versiplug-R in my ES and it is working well. It's small and rugged and can be mounted quite low.

I chose the Versiplug-R originally because I had a stock drain plug and a billet duckbill left over from my SXR so it would give me 3 different options to try that would fit the same location. I am still running the versiplug with no complaints yet.

It has not leaked yet that I am aware of. I had a couple leaks where it was suspect but it turned out to be my siphon bilge line in one instance and the boot on my trim cable the next.

I'm pretty sure the ball on Versa-plug Max is double the size of regular versaplugs

The ball is bigger on the versaplug max. I would say the opening is between 3/4 and 1 inch if I had to guess.

It looked close to the same size to me when ScottS got his. His was in hand and mine was installed so side by side comparison was not possible.

I guess the important detail is that it is not the full 2" dump like a scupper would be.

I miss my 24-7 Scupper. Didn't leak one drop. My Xmetal POURS water in....not sure why...I have messed with it several times and it doesn't get any better. Good thing I have an 1100 GPH Rulemate bilge....Even that has a hard time keeping up with this crappy scupper.

You do. I was just saying that if you put a regular scupper on a 2 inch pipe it will restrict the flow some too.

Old 24/7's were the same opening as the pipe. Yeah, some back pressure at the pipe, but still going to flow alot.
