1998 SXI Reviews

I am thinking about purchasing a 1998 SXi(pro maybe if they all arent pro.) I wanted to know what you would spend on one and if they are reliable. I am a begginer so I want to know if they are easy to ride, and what you would pay for a completely stock one.
Thank you.

I had a 98 sxi pro. I liked it before the sxr came out
the good- likes to be leaned over in turns, good top end
the bad- bounces like crazy, no so good bottom end.
a good extended ride plate helps the bounce.
I wouldn't pay anymore than $2k

Cant Get a Superjet

Superjets are out of the picture I have been looking for a while and there are none within my price range i wish there were. Please just give me reviews on SXI's like reliability and turning and such thank you.

In my experience, the SXI is a very reliable ski. I had my ski for just over a year, and did nothing to it other than change a fuel fileter and one set of plugs.:arms:

Kawi's do not have the bottom end that the Yami's have, but carve much better IMO...

I actually tried to talk you into keeping the two SN SJ's you had, so :twak:

Yea, well no. I dont like squares. Anyway. DO NOT get an ocean pro ride plate. Possibly the worst ride plate known to man. Keep the stock one and cut a 'D' into it. I like my ski and my brothers, I have not rode a SJ so I cannot be a comparo. My ski is fun and will continue to love it until I ride a SJ and see what that is like

Take your time and wait for a Superjet. :haha:

Seriously, how much money is this SXI going to cost you?

To a person that is just getting into standups and buying their "first" one........ because there will be more, I would say: just get one, whether it's a SJ or a Kawi.
After you have some time on it and perhaps try out some other skis, you will be able to figure out what you like and don't like about them, then you can get the one you like best!

It's not the price of a SJ its that there are none around her, and i guess the price is like 300-400 more than i'm payin for this but why are superjets so much better.

I ask because I see Squarenoses (older SJ's) for 800-1700 on a fairly common basis.

ok, I might be the only one to say this but Id take my old sxi pro back in a heartbeat over my squarenose, heck ive even thought of racing one still just for shts and giggles. I loved that thing, it has potential to be a good freestyle boat if your wallet has a matching potential lol.

slap an RD ride plate on that thing and youll have hardly any 'bounce' left. its a great ski, especially with some tubbies. now go get it and dont listen to all these sj folks. be different! most importantly just get a ski

o yeah, for a 98 in good shape I wouldnt pay much more than 2grand

thats a nice SN and really good price, man how can you go wrong with that. For a newbie a sxi/pro 750 will be fine if its close and a good deal get it and ride it, you can stab those skis really well with some practice, and do all the gay freestyle hood tricks you desire but if you really get into freestyling and making some power then you will pass it on to a buddy that is a newbie and get a superjet.
