what is up with FW freestyle. its feels like moto-x when they started flipping, backflop over backflop. it´s just not entertaining any more.
in my opinion it´s way more fun to watch the older freestyle runs from like -97

now that is some tec ridin and good entertainment

the best thing would have been to includ both old school and new school tricks. in lenzis run didnt se any water trick just airials(sp?) runs shouldn´t get rated on how many backflops or barrels you can do in a row, it should have some variety. but maybe thats just me.

ps props to ricker for still rolling the ski with no hood! easy way to sink a ski ds

I agree Penkin ,I watch footage of Burlew or Kantz from back in the day and wonder WTF happened to this sport.

I challenge you to get on your X2 or any X2 for that matter and even attempt some of the tricks that Kantz has pulled off flawlessly time after time.I know I can't do them and really I don't know of anyone else that can.So no its not all about the almighty Superjet.

hhhhhheeeeelllllooooooooooooo amature freestylers!!! :bump: thats where the fun is at im guessing most amatures can't afford a 1000 cc motor (like me), so we make use of what we got :moon: and still have fun doing it. :bananalama:

To me stand ups are the kind of sport that is a lot of fun (A LOT) to do, but not really that fun to watch.

With flat water, and no surf, there is only so much you can do, and compared to motorcycles that are jumping 45 feet in the air in stadiums, it just doesn't look that impressive. Even in the surf, there are only so man tricks that can be done.

find me a big enough wave and i'll jump my superjet 45 feet in the air! :cool2:

I got to disagree. I sometimes just think this sport isnt progressing as fast as bike jumping. Wait till guys are doing barrel rolls and flat spin reentries in the surf. Wait till someone barrel rolls a ski and not themself, or monkey jumps just as a wave hits them to get 20 ft of air, what about simply duck diving throw huge waves, i think thats a fun to do. Its coming just wait. To all you badass guys i got more ideas if you want them.

I forgot!
maybe if they setup the freestyle comps a little different. participants have 2 chances to nail a trick, they can choose which one to be judged on or judged on the best of the two attempts. if they do the trick they move on to the next round. judges have a list of tricks. participants are lined up on shore and take turns attempting the trick. judges can give a score of 1-3. 1=yeah barely did it. 2=yup that was a perfect tailstand. 3=hooooly shiaat, that was the sickest one foot one finger nose picker of a tailstand.

if you can do the trick but add a little extra you get the top point for the trick and get to move on. if you fail the trick, your out. last man riding wins, if a tie, then goto the scores. it would be sweet seeing lenzi try a 360 hood trick with 1000cc monster, lol.
the tricks can progress in difficulty. starting with a simple tailstand and ending with 14 backflips in a row.

either that or freestyle skis need to have courses with fun boxes, rails, ramps, slides etc. maybe someone could build a ski that combines a snowmobile track on the flat part of the hull infront of the pump so when you hit a ramp you can increase speed and have some centrifical forces at work to help with flips and stuff. I am just putting it out there. i know, i am dreaming.

First of all I can't do any of those tricks yet....so this opinion comes from a spectator point of view.....

Someone made a comment to me after seeing the Pismo crew doing aerials....

"Dude it was awesome.....it was like.....like....Gymnastics on water"

I thought, man that is about right, guys jumping all over the place, 20 feet up in the air back flipping, barrel rolls 15 feet up in the air, etc...etc....

I think ONE well executed move is all it takes to show your skills, no need to do as many back flips and barrel rolls in a row as possible, one after the other one....Ah! I am forgetting the fist pump....
An Olympic approach to the competition would be great but then it would not be called FREEstyle.... as you would have a set of “rules” then…. right?

I believe it would look killer if someone can do SINGLE well executed tricks and do some of the "old school" tricks too.....it would be an all around display of skill...IMHO.

By single I mean one shot....so 6 back flips in a row is ONE move.

RR is the Man….He shows an unbelievable display of balance….His movements are graciously “Fluid”…He is ONE with his ski….He also has a bigger space to perform so He can go full throttle

I think this is what you need. Bike tricks are sick but they have to have massive launch and landing ramps. Show me a dirt bike that would be as entertaining to watch in a flat ring. A ski can be entertaining on flatwater and is more impressive in the surf. I bet some hurdles, ramp jumps, and rail slides would be awesome on a jetski.

well what are we waiting for? i say, lets build some sort of portible device that can make huge waves like a wave pool, but portable some how.

i have been eyeballing the rails and ramp in the bayou down the st. for sometime now.

am class needs to be limited to modified stock motors( no a/m big bore strokers) and any hull the rider feels comfortable w/. AM needs to be for riders to hone their skills before being forced to move up due to skill or necessity of more power. maybe a mid class for am motor combos. the pro class should be anything goes, full sponsorships, loaner skis, top dollar, mackdaddy, big nuts, show me what you've got.

im with you. when i started wakeboarding we would of laughed our ass off is someone said they were going to have a portable winch pull them across the water allowing them to ride in fountains. now ever up and coming kid has one.
