Ive been collecting parts for a while to do an 1100 conversion but now Ive got to pick which hull im going to use... Ive seen the posts where some 1100 X2 projects were started but nothing on an old style SX. Just thought I would get some opinions before I made my choice.
Thanks

I've read that that is a lot of motor for even a 750 hull. read too much motor. If this is the case I certainly wouldn't do a 650 hull. I think the X2 hull is a good idea though the pump may be an issue? Have you thought about an sxr hull? That would probably be the best as far as stock hulls go though would probably cost a significant amount more.

650sx/x-2 conv

It may be unpopular, but I vote SX. Here's why:
Bottom end sux in stock form
SX is notoriously sluggish/heavy
X-2 has a nightmare for an engine bay

Drawbacks are:

45 mph max "stable" speed
Added weight on an already heavy ski
Devil in the details

If built for bottom end power, it would be unique for an SX (rolls, backys)
Maybe!
You can always change your mind no matter the choice.

wouldnt that be like putting a V-8 into a Chevette?
it would still be a turd with an 1100 . . . :eek:uttahere:

More like a v-8 into a Citation or other old crappy midsize car.
The Chevette reference would be more like an 1100 into a 300 hull. Hey! There you go! A 25 MPH ride-on water pump/fuel tester

Im not sure if an 1100 will fit in an X2 without hull modification. A 650sx would be easy though. The old 650sx is easier than a 750 to ride in a straight line at high speeds which is all that any 1100 standup is good for.
