02 superjet build--REV footholds & more

I decided to mod my SJ midseason, which in hindsight may have not been the best idea, but after cracking my shins slipping on stock mat I didn't care at the time. Anyways, I've done... REV footholds, Wammer SS pole bracket, -4" stock handlepole, ODI rogues, PJS finger throttle, factory b limited chamber. Also sealed the stock hood and opened the rear holes up some, I am sure I did other things that I forgot too. lol I wish I could have gotten in progress pics, but never had a camera around.

Still gotta put this black molded diamond hydroturf on, hopefully will get some help on it next week. Also have to do some other small things, and have been having trouble with a throttle cable, also have to tune the carbs, but I should have this finished and be back in the water by next weekend:arms:

The ski came with solas concord 13/17, worx 201, worx extended plate(put the stock he gave me back on), rule bilge, and umi spring when I bought it back in june. I'm also going to put some straight bars on it, just waiting to see if I like the plate where it is, or if I want to go shorter on it first.

Heres the pics of the REV footholds. In person they look perfect, the guy that helped me do them (boatbuilder) made them perfectly flush with it not being raised out at all on anypoint, and strengthened from the rear instead of laying layers of mat over the fronts.

thanks guys, yea we just took the holds and sprayed glass/resin all over the back of the holds and then pushed them into the holes and shot screws in. After it dried, we cut off the excess of the footholds sticking over the top of the gunwales, removed screws, and then glassed it again to make it nice and rounded. It was a much different method than i've seen anyone else use, but it worked awesome. We never made any big gaps in it like some of the installs i've seen where they filled it with epoxy. I have never worked with glass before, but these guys are great with it. They owed my dad a favor, so the help was free. These holds look like they came from factory they are so flush.

I actually picked this ski up in daytona, guy in vero agreed to meet me halfway. I'm actually in melrose, but nobody knows where that that is, so i just changed it to gainesville (plus I go to college in gville), so I'm really only about 1 1/2 hrs away, but for now I'm content on the big lake in my backyard. I hate corrosion lol. I may take you up on your offer sometime though, next year perhaps, need to get better at riding it period before trying to go big, and probably going to tear it apart again this winter for reinforcements.

One problem I am having putting this back together... How does the on/off/lanyard box screw back on the bars? All I see are the 2 screws that go on one side..when i put them in, it splits one side apart a little. I am confused??

I can't remember on the Yamis...is there a nub on the inside of the switch that sticks out that needs to fit in a hole in the bars like on a Kawi?

There is a hole in the bar, but um if I had a nub, its gone nowonder:. I'm pretty sure it wasn't on there when I bought the ski though, becuase I could spin the thing around if I wanted to (it was really tight though). But where it looks like the nub would go is still on the side with the 2 screw, how would that hold the other side shut? I hate working on cars/boats/engines in general, but I do it anyways.:nutkick:

you have to grind that nub thingy down a bit to fit on aftermarket bars like umi and x metal as they are just a little bit bigger

I don't think mine has the nub thing though, my problem is I only has the 2 screws for it that go in the right side. How does the left side lock together?

make sure to pad them up where they meet the top side of ur foot to fit your feet or ur'll be hurtin a lil bit:crutches:

dont know what to tell ya on the S/S switch, mine a lil f' ed up itself:grumpy:

Thanks for the compliments, I wouldn't call it quick though, lol, it seemed like forever to me. I'm not sure what I'll do about padding. I honestly don't know if I'll even have room to pad. I am a sz 13 with very wide feet and they're pretty tall. Putting my feet in with some old lowtops (AF1s) is super tight, and thats with no turf, I am about to buy some wrestling shoes, so I'll see how it will be with those.

I'm going to go launch in in the canal in my back yard later today and see how it runs. We just tuned the carbs up last night in my garage for the pipe with the flush kit that had been installed on the factory exhaust Teed into the line that come from the jet and goes into the manifold. Talk about loud.

Yeah, I am really confused about that stupid switch, it almost lookes like it was being held together on the left side by being pushed against the grip flange, but I no longer had flanged grips to try it.

Well, got it in the water (still no turf, my knee got cut lol) Anyways, the shortened pole and footholds were awesome though. Going to have to tune the carbs on the trailor at the boatramp now, they are running way to rich, plus I had the pleasure of finding my b pipe leaking between the head pipe and manifold a very slight amount. This thing has been a nightmare, I can' wait to get it finished finally.
