    Mikuni SBN 44 models?

The only stock Keihin duals I would avoid are the ones from the 1995 750sxi, those had a single pilot and smaller jets. All the others had two pilot jets and their main jets are big enough for aftermarket pipes. The only parts Keihins seem to need is the O-ring thats on the main N/S and the...

    Mikuni SBN 44 models?

All the brass fittings press in. If they won’t fit tight enough you can lightly peen around the hole with a center punch. Your OEM 93-94 small pin dual manifold in the picture has larger passages and can be opened to use Mikuni 44s. They also set the carbs farther apart than most aftermarket...

    Old guys

There was a lot of engine and pipe tuning knowledge in that group. Later I started playing with pumps and was able to make them work better at low speeds. Everyone was still trying to apply their racing experience., at least in my part of the world.

Trying to remove my motor mount smc insert is what I believe it is called. Looking for advice

Watch some videos on composite repairs. Prepping the material is extremely important. I like to use a non-blushing table top epoxy for repairs because its a little softer and has good adhesion.

Trying to remove my motor mount smc insert is what I believe it is called. Looking for advice

The motor mount inserts arent coming out. If you had a new one you could sand the old one off and replace it, Im not sure they were ever available. Repair it from the bottom, you will likely end up with a sizeable hole once the broken fibers have been removed.

JS550 Ticking from Front Cylinder when running.

How long have you had the ski? When is the last time the engines been apart and inspected? All two-stroke skis are ready for some work, most of them are antiques. If you want one to be reliable they need to be basically restored.

Watercraft Talk cdi test vs OCD cdi test

I highly doubt many Enhancers are sold because the customer knows what they do. I never met a rider who was interested enough to measure his ignition timing. Everyone is selling their products to kids.

    B1 1200 build questions.

A two stroke with a good tuned pipe needs back pressure to work so a very quiet/restrictive muffler can be used. Single pipe triples don’t qualify so they will be throttled by back pressure, even worse than a four stroke would be. That’s why Yamaha used massive exhaust hoses. The same can be...

650 SX handlepole pad base build.

I have recently had to repair all the backing on a 750sx. I found Scotchweld urethane adhesive with a layer of glass works very well. It’s a little slow to wet the glass and it sets almost too fast. Great for repairs though. If you can’t find epoxy that is soft enough try urethane.

    Mikuni 44mm

Ive had and tuned 5 different part # of SBN44s. One was clearly not meant to go on any PWC. They all tuned very similarly. The pilot circuit needed a size or two different jets to achieve the same mixture. If its a single carb engine, use any one you can find and just tune the carb. I do not...

GP 1100 with 1200 cylinders port matched

The bottom screw feeds the lowest fuel inlet hole. It’s to adjust idle mixture only. Pilot jet feeds the holes just above lowest one, it directly affects 1/4 throttle. You can set the bottom screw out of the water. Just slowly close them until idle rpm peaks then open them until it slows back...

GP 1100 with 1200 cylinders port matched

An overly rich part throttle setting will usually help response. Couches spend a lot of time at full throttle so setting the top screws are first priority. After that a mukuni sbn44 needs to be only slightly rich at 1/4 throttle for great response. The “reverse” jetting fad works great when the...

GP 1100 with 1200 cylinders port matched

The bottom screws are the low idle adjustment only. 1/4 throttle is the pilot jets. Lowering the pop off will do the same as using the next larger pilot jet. Once 1/4 throttle is slightly fourcycling, open the top screws to get good response. This will make full throttle a little rich of peak...

    Updated porting temp plate

Open/non-tuned exhausts are not the best application for any jetski since max torque is always around 5000rpm. Our pumps don't make much load at that rpm. A tuned pipe will boost peak torque and you can set that boost at whatever rpm the pump wants to run , which is usually over 7000 rpm. I...

    Updated porting temp plate

One other thing to consider about port height is your exhaust system. Once you go higher than stock 61x timing you also need a working tuned pipe or else you are trading torque for RPM. . A good pipe will boost a low port cyl but they get maximum boost with a little higher ports. You may...
