The Opposite of Bogging FX-1/Super Jet

Try it out. Disassemble your old one and check everything., make sure the pulse line isnt leaking.. I like to run the tank completely vented, that little check valve can cause problems. You will need to drain the water separator more often if its removed.

How to Remove 1994 SN SJ Drive Shaft?

If your shaft is already trash just find another good stator and set what you have aside. Buy a low pitched large hub impeller, they work very well in an OEM stator.

The Opposite of Bogging FX-1/Super Jet

Ive had that happen when the tank vent check valve stuck shut. It would idle and come to life near full throttle. It was confusing until I noticed that the tank was sucked in a little. If it happened slowly, make sure the tank is venting!

    JB Weld or?

If it’s going on an engine you want a high temp epoxy. I’m not sure what’s commercially available now but we used Marine Tex in the past. Most aviation stuff is rated for 250f. Look for ea934, ea9394, magnolia 6398, whatever is aluminum filled. It should be easy to find cheap after it’s a year old.

Laser Cut Fiberglass Reinforcement Fabric or Template

Increasing the radius is better but the real problem is nothing sticks to to the deck material very well.

Laser Cut Fiberglass Reinforcement Fabric or Template

The sharp edge between the floor and side is a terrible design. It would be 10X less likely to crack if it was a larger radius.

Laser Cut Fiberglass Reinforcement Fabric or Template

Square nose upper decks are weak and difficult to bond. Their trays just hang from the top and almost always break around the edge. Adding material around the edge usually won’t stay bonded. The best way to repair one is to cut the floor out, refoam, and bond in a new tray attached to the...

Laser Cut Fiberglass Reinforcement Fabric or Template

You probably never break the bottom but the sides are very weak. Are you going to try barrel rolls? If so then add material to the sides. If not leave it stock, it won’t break.

Getting back into skis. Need help.

Your timing isn’t great. Almost all the old production twostroke skis need major overhauls now. Plus they are expensive to buy. Assume every old ski has been sunk and sat full of water at some point so budget for another engine. Never buy a painted ski. Junk Superjets are being pulled out of the...

How to Remove 1994 SN SJ Drive Shaft?

It’s mostly lack of maintenance. Those splines need to be clean and greased. In 30 years I have never once met or even heard of a rider removing his mid shaft to clean/lube the splines, EVER! It’s also common for sand to collect in the hulls driveshaft tube, what do you think happens when the...

What should I do with this old square nose?

If your back hurts you will want to be standing straight with the ski planed. Adjust the pole length so your toes are at the front of the tray when going 20mph or faster. Square nose poles and turnplates are at least 3" too long, especially if you are much over 150lbs,

    Pump idea

You will tend to feel more low speed thrust than a loss in top speed.. It sounds like you have too much impeller load. Bore the nozzle as much as practical then repitch the impeller. I know a variable nozzle was made and tested on a Seadoo 30 years ago. It was reported that the performance...

    Bilge control options

If you need an electric pump a lot just leave it on while you ride. They draw very little when not pumping water.

What should I do with this old square nose?

For better performance you will want a pair of 760 carbs and the exhaust port cut a little wider. Dual 38 will allow you to tune each cylinder, a single will always have one running hotter than the other. A pair of 44s will make the pipe hit harder.

What should I do with this old square nose?

A “battleship” really? What do you want it to do?

What should I do with this old square nose?

Just cut the flange off flush and cover the hole. Leave a tiny hole so water can drain. The front hose is enough as long as it’s not kinked or restricted.

1986-1990 550s used the mikuni 44 round pump.

    Small hub impellers scrap?

If its a Solas, buy the lowest pitch and be ready to bend it flatter. The Yamaha 144 YQ series work very well when pitched down.

    Small hub impellers scrap?

There is a lot of variation between brands and styles to be able to make an otherwise blind determination. I have made better use of a simple dimension between blades instead of trying to chase what is printed on the impeller itself. The manufacturers numbers are often meaningless.
