Do it right the first time, pay now or pay later. Pull out old foam, not a hard job. Seal the bond line from the inside I use epoxy resin for this. Seal drive shaft tube, water lines, steering cable tube. Seal the factory foam fill holes. Reinforce rear sides. Install drains. Install scupper...

d I use nylon liquid tight cord grip fitting from McMaster Carr on the end of my 1/2" PVC tube to hold the trim cable inside the engine bay. No seal on pump side. Mark44
