The only gasket I put any sealant on is the stator cover to help keep water out. If your parts are good you dont need anything else. You can put whatever you want on if it makes you feel better though. Just my .02

I had real good luck with a Solas Fx-1 YC-SC-I 17-23(big hub). It had great out of the hole power and good top speed. I was impressed with it actually. I had a poor mans B pipe and flame arrestors, everything else on engine was stock. I'm 6' 220 lbs. and it worked well.

Check with your state game and fish dept. A lot of states now have a machine at their office to make them, and as long as you have proper paperwork there should be no problem. I had this one done a couple years ago.
