    making a custom rnsj hood???

yes, carbon fiber will be lighter, but more expensive. I used biaxial cloth when I did mine. here a quick overview of how I did it. - Hull prep - grind off all of the ribs on the sides (i did this to my latest build, but not to my first one). makes it easier to lay the cloth flat. You can...

    making a custom rnsj hood???

the last note, and prbly one of the most important things is, I bought a lowered nose piece from Goose before i started cutting. I wanted to make sure i lined my hood up with it. since not all lowered nose pieces are the same you may want to figure that out 1st then line your hood cut up with...

    making a custom rnsj hood???

if i remember it was like 17. but that included the oem rubber hoses. you can shave a little more off using lighter weight pool type hose. I also made my liner quite thick... using a layer of 26oz sandwitched between two layers of 10oz texalium. it was like 1/8 thick.

    making a custom rnsj hood???

right on guys, thanks. It's still not as light as an AM hood, but you get that sleek look on the cheap side, so long as you don't mind doing some work. I had a lot of fun making it - and I was doing it for my nephew's ski.

    making a custom rnsj hood???

and now for the liner - i used carboard to make a tempate. cut my cloth to fit. used duct tape to cover the entire template - the epoxy does not easily stick to the duct tape. once dried i trimmed and used wamiltons epoxy glue to glue the liner in place. i made my liner so that it not only...

    making a custom rnsj hood???

a few more - the first coat of filler i put on thick and did lots of sanding. i put about 5 or 6 coats on all together, getting progressively thinner and thinner as i was slowly just filling in scratches and low spots. note in pic #4 the larger vent holes i cut in the rear of the hood. when...

    making a custom rnsj hood???

i pulled the entire liner out, including stock vent tubes. filled in the front vents, opened up larger vents in the rear, made a new liner and installed the oem rubber tubes where I wanted them. while the liner was out i cut the top to make it a low profile hood. here are a few pics to...

Whats the best pole set-up for Freeride/Surf?

X2 - i'm running AC on both my skis. one I cut -4" with XMW turn plate and straight bars, and the other I cut -6" with XMW turn plate and straight bars. They are strong as hell - no complaints from me. I run one with a spring/single bolt tightened up so it stays where I want it. the other...
