Sounds like not only do you need electrical work you also need carb work. I maybe change plugs once a year for the hell of it. Do a quick search all the readings are out there, I don't know them off hand.

I just had my impeller fixed, it had a small bend in one of the blades and it killed performance. I could not see the bend in the blade till I took the pump out of the ski. It also ran like it was stuck in the mud. No rpm's and no top speed.
175 is not a lot of compression but of course any more psi on the piston works the engine harder but at 175 I wouldn't worry about it. O rings are used all the time. I use an ADA O-ring head on my skis.
