    Also check the grocery store, they have food thermometers which run between 40 and 180. Not sure of precision.

    Again, I think its to make sure laymen do not confuse MI (Em-eye) with M1 (Em-one) [Letters with numbers]. That's my theory.

    There was a brief discussion about this at the Lone Star freeride. The question was why the state of Colorado had the abbreviation CL and not CO as is used with the USPS. My assumption is the O can be confused with o (oh) and not 0 (zero). I think there are others but not sure...
