@WFO Speedracer What do you think about this approach?
I have a brand new, never used SBN 44 which I put on the 550sx.
How about I put that on the FX-1 and try it?
Won't that rule out any discussion of the carb?
Thanks @Roseand, yes I should have said that. I have the service manual and searched and read here and watched youtube videos and have been turning it clockwise to remove which is reverse thread.
I just am at the point of frustration and with me my frustration leads to use of a BFH . . .
Hey guys, I have heated the driveshaft to red hot and then iced it.
I have also heated the oem aluminum impeller.
I have a 1 1/16" or 27mm open end wrench and put the spline end of the driveshaft in the shaft holder in a vise and I STILL CAN'T BREAK THE DRIVE SHAFT LOOSE !!!
I have a 36 inch...
Well I found that the fuel tank intake vent air/water separator canister had 1/2" of water in it. So, I drained it and then disconnected the intake vent from the hose to that canister and blew into the vent and it was working fine.
But when I took the ski out for a test run today, it acted the...
I don't really know what those are.
Are they on the other side of the reeds which I can see from an inspection camera in the intake manifold?
If so, I can pull the intake manifold and pull out and examine the reeds both inside and out.
Thanks WFO, probably why I was having problems attaching the cables to the electrodes.
It sure seems like a carb problem. like there is no mid-range before near WOT high-range. I guess it could be a carb problem since I was the one that has rebuilt the carbs over the years.
But I have never...
1995 FX-1 with Single carb 701, MSD Enhancer, stock oem exhaust.
Throttle cable is not hanging up.
Runs fine at idle to slow ski-able speed but seems like there is no mid-rpm.
Rather, the ski goes from slow but ski-able speed to 3/4 WOT.
It runs fine at 3/4 WOT to WOT.
There is absolutely...
This is friggin' encouraging. Did you add hardener and wax to your last spray of laminating gelcoat?
Or did you just buy the Finishing Gelcoat which has the hardener and wax already in it?
I hope you consider this a dissection of your thread, rather than a diversion from it.
Really...
Dude !!! I heard you could not gel coat over SMC?
So can you gel coat over the Total Boat Epoxy Primer?
The ski looks amazing.
It is apparent that you really thought out your project, so I want to know.
How long has it been since you gel coated it? And how is it holding up?
I would really...
Excellent photos!
I see what you did, you just moved the pole bracket "L" brackets to the outside of the Round Nose Pole Bracket.
Very clever indeed!!!
Wow! Fantastic. It looks like you remounted the attachment points to the pole bracket too?
I am very interested in this since I have a SN SJ hull and have the opportunity to reinforce it now.
Also, my 2019 RN SJ has the same wrap that your SN does.
So, I get whiplash every time I look at...
I really like the idea of the angle. Did the warp pull out as you tightened the machine screws?
Hey, not only do I like that Watercraft Factory nose piece (just put it in my cart), but is that a oem or aftermarket hood?
If you decide to sell it as is and decide to sell the parts in your attic, I am building a 1990 SN bare hull and need everything but the pole, hood, hull and engine.
Compare the price of your modded SN with this modded SN...
Like @WFO Speedracer says, it is very well priced. (In fact, suspiciously well priced.) And it is very clean. Cleaner than the 1995 FX-1 which I bought. Which is very rare indeed for a ski that only 1,500 were made. And were only made in 1994 and 1995.
I bought my 1995 FX-1 from Minnesota...
Speaking of Vee's. Maybe this was why the hull was abandoned.
A crack in the bottom hull which goes to the inside of the hull near the port side bond line:
I would assume that the correct fix would be to Vee the entire crack on both sides; drill a series of ~1/8" holes ~1 1/4"...
@kevbo Is this what you are thinking at the tray floor to tray walls to increase radius? I can wet out the S-glass, place the glass balloon/putty mixture in the corners, lay the S-glass on top, then use maybe a 3/4" PVC pipe to pressure the corner to create the radius?
@WFO Speedracer Your...
I don't understand this part of your post. Would you mind explaining a little more?
When reinforcing the tray, I assume that reinforcement material must be bent up the bulkhead on the tray side and also somehow bent up the sides near the bulkhead on the tray side.
I will also look for photos...
