oil lines and either wave eater power valve clips or updated power valves by sbt or ( r&D now out of business but they had good billet alum ones). The only way to 100% protect you on the power valves is to get new ones. Even the OEM yamaha ones only solved the head breaking but not the shaft...

agreed 120% leave it stock and go with it. if its sat for awhile dump 2 stroke oil down the carbs and into the motor. run the motor with NO plugs in it. cover spark plug holes with a rag so you dont make a mess. this will lube it up. you will have to rebuild the carbs if it sat for a really...
