On an older ski like that I would definitely start with a carb rebuild kit.
On the spare ski......you may have a really bad impeller(stock ones are garbage) or possibly a bad gasket where the pump meets the pump shoe causing it to suck air and spin the prop.

The key is coming out with a truly good design and good riding hull. Otherwise you might as well just keep riding a Superjet hull. There is still nothing wrong with a OEM hull.
You will love it! I was so worried about my carbon hull being too light in the surf. I have been shocked at how great it is out there in our sloppy Lake MI surf.
All I have is a stainless u bolt from the hardware store and backer. I don't have a winch on the trailer so this works well and is really secure.

When I first installed my midshaft I forgot to remove the locating pins and was stumped for a few minutes why my midshaft didn't want to bolt flush to the firewall. ......duh......
I have launched my boat there before. It only has like two ramps, but it has a lot more parking than the other spot right on the lake. It is most likely where I will be launching(if I am able to make it up there)
