    Carbon vs Fiberglass hull

Keep us posted on how it goes. Did you go glass, or carbon? Can't remember. I bet it's going to be a friggin sweet ride in the surf. Spins, turns, flips, planes out and books it pretty good. It might not be the best, but I bet it will do surprisingly well.

    Carbon vs Fiberglass hull

has anyone had a glass Hurricane in the surf? I think it will do surprisingly well. Get a bilge in it and keep the scuppers closed. I love the way mine rides and can't wait to get it in some surf. I'm a total newb at surf, but still can''t wait to try it.

Glad you're OK. Doesn't look like it feels overly wonderful. Retracting my statement about the Shred Ready having a smaller opening. Just noticed how far off the turn plate the chin pad is in the pic. My chin pad is super tight to the steering. So they may be close to the same.

Things happen fast and sometimes there's not time to get your hands up, let alone try and turn your head unfortunately. If you're underwater and you can't see the ski to get your hands up. Things go wrong sometimes. I'm still a new rider compared to most. Only been riding 5 years now, but this...

Other The Idiots Guide of What Not To Do...or forget to do.

Build issues I guess. Once forgot to tighten down the carbs, got to the lake, hit the start button... BRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPP! Whooo, glad that shut down. Dumbass... Zip tying everything up solid only to forget to hook something little up and have to cut everything and redo it all. Done...

    Carbon vs Fiberglass hull

More weight on the hull surface is going to create more drag due to more of the hull being in contact with the water (friction loss) along with the ski having to push (displace) more water to move the ski through the water. Lighter is better no matter how you look at it for the most part...

    Jetski crash, close call!

Water awareness.... Keep your eye (tabs) on everybody on the water. Do they look like noobs, riding erratically, bad boat driving.. Whatever, watch your and your buddies backs.

    Carbon vs Fiberglass hull

My last 2 hulls were carbon (SF Badass -5 and a Bob G3) but am now on a fiberglass hurricane. Like said earlier they are being made even lighter now. Still not as light as carbon, but they'll definitely put a smile on your face! And put more money towards beer and parts. I'd love tp try a DVX...

    Carbon vs Fiberglass hull

If you can test ride some hulls first and see what fits your riding style, that will treat you best. Everybody likes a different feel and handling characteristics. Also, exactly what kind of riding do you want to do? That will help you figure out what hulls to consider. Not many hulls can chase...

    Freestyle factory Backie chan

I put a ton into my old RN hull. Way more than I should have, but it taught me a LOT about glassing, foam shaping, fab and how all the changes in hull shape change the ride characteristics. So it was worth it. Was I stoked to pick up an aftermarket hull afterwords? He77 yeah I was! I thought I...

Backi Chan w/Dasa 1000 + the works completely submerged and rescued

I'm not getting a pic, but my front tow loop has a 3"x4" AL backing plate with cabosil behind it to spread the load. I've done this on 3 skis and never had an issue. My pump bolt is temporary, but it will also spread the pressure load over much more than that one insert. And for the most part...

I hear ya there. Wish I had a regular tow loop too. Just couldn't come up with a good spot at the time, so went with the bolt. It's not the greatest, but gets the job done.

Well, the shred ready protects quite a bit more than the 661.
