the how to assemble a 701 thread shows them putting case sealer
on the top and bottom cases.
The Clymer manual say to put only on one side.
Which do you do?
Also do you put any sealer on the crank seals
or on the circlip for the rear bearing?
thanks!
Done the search, grind down a wrench or crowfoot
shallow head bolts with washers to the inside holes
but are there other tricks to make it easier?
I have the motor apart; is it preferable to attach the exhaust manifold before assembly? or not . . . . . .
thanks!
so what is the deal?
economy killed all the disposable income?
midwinter blues?
it is like a ghost town lately, what is up?
comment . . . . discuss . . . . .
or have a few beers and post!!!!!
:haha:
so i bought this pretty 61x/61x freestyle ported motor
complete with B pipe, a/m box, modded carb and ported cases and cylinders
pretty!!!!
installed it in my SN and I was pumped!
Need to order seals, gaskets, etc
so I need model to cross reference with Yamaha.
Was thinking a 1995 WB-1 was a 61x/61x motor.
Is that correct?
Thanks!
I stopped by a friends and noticed his 550 was taking a dive on the mooring
We got it to shore, rolled and drained it and got it going
Just then we noticed the X-2 sinking as well
Got pulled it out, pumped it out and fired it up.
Both skis ran good and long before the sun went...
I blew out my crank seals on my ported 701
so I dropped in my 650 to be able to ride.
175 psi 6M6 with a protec pipe, MSD, ww cone, al waterbox
runs great and works fine; no lugging or cavitation!
BUT, I miss my 701!!
1990 SN SJ with 701 B pipe:
This W shaped metal piece with 3 holes
was in the bottom of my ski
along with crank seal springs
and strange rubber grommet
when I pulled motor with blow seals
anyone know what it is? Thanks!
I checked my ski the other day
and it seemed to have dropped from 180 to 172 psi, wtf?
it was in garage at end of day, hadn'r run the motor
maybe 110 degrees ambient
checked it this morning, 72 degrees in the garage
back up to 180
I guess PV does equal nRT!!:naughty:
