Stator lighting coils tend to go bad after some years of use and this is when the MSD enhancer helps as it partly runs off the battery I've been told.... In fact my buds ski with bad stator and MSD enhancer runs just fine, with stock ignition will not even start.

Or just replace wrist bearings every once a year to be on the safe side :)

You screw it in. I think its oposite thread. Put greas on the shaft thread. Dont use any sort of locktide, it tightens up itself. To remove the old one you need to use a pipe wrench and prybar or stress hit the coupler to loosen it up.

I agree, you might have bent pump shaft which could cause all that trouble.. If impeller got stuck you probably need new pump wear ring as well.. all this needs to be inspected before putting new parts on

It is called driveline coupler. You probably didn't align your pump and it broke the coupler. The other broken part is intermediate shaft housing, you need to press the bearing to the intermediate shaft (requires special press tool). Disconect the motor from the pair bolts that hold the mounts...
