I've used uship many times, but their rates have gone up and so less shippers are using them. I used YRC on the last shipment, super nice people, super smooth, fast shipping OK to Cali and it was dirt cheap.
"Dont want to spend a lot" "a lot" varys from individual to individual. Cant suggest a hull without knowing a budget.
Not knowing much about the sport. Would probably be a good idea to save up and buy a used RTR ski like Tpete
From my experience, building a ski using real old parts turns into...
I've shaddered a couple helmets and have had a minor concussions all while wearing a helmet. Luckily I land most my flips and rolls now a days, and know how to crash and keep the ski off of me, but I still wont ride without a helmet. Glad your ok.
Giro makes nice downhill bike full face helmets...
A torch and a better quality wrench. I prefer snap-on or William's.
They probably used loctite or nothing and it may be seized on. I use anti-seize or marine grease, I think torque spec is 30ft lbs, so not all that tight.
Buddy of mine doesnt rent to groups of guys, they always destroy his ski, only couples/families. He also requires a $300 cash deposit on top of the rental fee.
I think its dumb we have to carry one, if my ski is on fire, I'm going to flips it over or get the hell away from it, not open the hood, introduce more oxygen to get a tiny extinguisher out. I talk to a patrol about that, he said: it isn't for you, it's for if another boat is on fire.... ya ok...
I ended up going with YRC, I have 4 local distribution centers and YRC had the best reviews on Google, it was also the cheapest, super friendly on both end, delivered on time, no extra fees, 3 days OK to Cali. Will use again.
