If it has stock steering don’t get too disappointed in the ski overall. I detested the way mine rode stock but now it is dialed and carves hard . I suggest :
06-07 cable, blowsion adapter bracket, RRP steering, aggressive intake grate(I like WCOT and I didn’t have to grind a thing to bolt...
Loctite 572 is thread sealant as I mentioned…. Basically acts as a barrier to prevent galling and/or corrosion. The name brand Loctite does not mean all of their products are threadlockers (though their name is most synonymous with red and blue thread lockers).

Marine Tex is good but if it’s just gel coat damage I highly recommend the stuff I linked. I have personal experience with repairing gel coat on the 4t SJ.

I’d do some light glass work and then get the gel coat repair kit from color rite. Most of the damage looks to be a thick gel coat rather than structural.
Can you describe what symptoms the ski is exhibiting of running poorly?
Very black pistons can indicate a lean condition. Please include pictures. Also, 150 PSI with an aftermarket head suggests a worn top end. Questionable gauge reading should always be considered too. What CC domes?
