I haven't clear coated the ski yet, still in the building stages. Not sure what I plan on using yet.

I hand laid some 2x2 twill visual carbon on the front of my ski, and it turned out pretty good. It's a small section, and I did a secondary coating of resin to get it smooth. Still going to wet sand everything and clear coat it (after the rest of the ski is painted). Check my build thread for...

Progress has been really slow on this project, and now I'm working out of town, so I expect it to be even slower now unfortunately. The ski came with a homemade aluminum pole bracket, and it was bent and had a major crack in it. So I designed a new one in Solidworks. Here's an exploded view...

Nice work on the hood liner mold. Quick question, what kind of glue do you use for the pink foam? A few things I tried reacted with it. Looking forward to seeing your plan for the handpole. The inflated bladder sounds interesting.

Cool update and thanks for posting the difference between the wax/PVA and frekote. You sure don't waste time! I wish I could make this much progress in that amount time on my projects!

Thanks!! And yes, I'm keeping the theme throughout the hull.... Where exactly? I wish I knew! I keep changing my mind every time I look at the ski. I suppose time will tell. I would like to keep the theme going on the hood, but I'm not committing myself to making my own hood until I'm happy...

Thanks guys, here's an update. I've been staring at the front end of my ski for awhile now, trying to decide how to finish it off. I wanted to keep the length of the rocker, but that would result in an "underbite" look (which I didn't want). I also wanted to do something different...

This is the best advice I've seen so far... Absolutely join one of those teams if you can! I was heavily involved in my schools FSAE team, and this is by far the best thing I've done. Made some life-long friends and it's the reason I scored a good job out of school without any real work...
