Looks like good enough strengthening to ride with. You are def going big. Just tighten the latch tension and clamp down. I had some extra weld put on the T rod that mates into the latch. If anyone is throwing away a ski during BF attempts sh*t is going to happen to the ski. Repair, reinforce...
