I'm sure cost is the main factor... you can find golf cart/mower wheels a dime a dozen. You're stuck with limited choices for the plastic rimmed ballon tires. IMO it's worth it for the sailcraft setup. weight, sand floatation, and not having to deal with rust etc. or big factors for me upgrading.

^ Not bad. Tip for 1st timers would be to do front bulkhead first, then the sides... this way it's harder to see any gaps in the corners from looking at the ski from behind. You want to do the tray bottom last, this way when underpad compresses or losses it's memory your not left with gaps...

That's not from beaching... probably more from letting sit on the beach in the surge zone and the pump filling with sand, which gets sucked up next ride. Before starting dunk the pump a couple times to wash the sand back out.

No, just enough to get it to fire and try to pull fuel from the tank. Try a couple times, or crank with the choke on or pull FA's and use your hand over the carbs. If your not getting fuel you need to look into lines or carbs.
