yes, factory rubber hood seal. They dont get lots of water in them through the hood holes I as asking about? air has to get in for it to breath, correct?

My SJ seems to enjoy taking on water when it goes under... I was messing around on the hood trying to make a fountain, and tried only a couple submarines and it filled itself up really fast, took water in the carb and did a good job of sinking near the beach. I have added a Rule 500gph bilge...

I have an 84 js550, I see the 550sx's had a rubber cover/bumper over the front and I want one for my ski. Are those still availabe new? Can someone point me to a place online where I can get one? Also, a real newb question, what is the difference between a js550 and a 550sx? Thanks.

I just bought an aluminum finger throttle off of ebay for my js550, but the throttle cable has a different size thread then the throttle. I think I have heard of an adapter that will go from the smaller thread size to the larger one. Can someone shed some light on this topic?

voltage is at the solenoid (both sides) as well as out to the starter. Took the starter out of the ski and ran power through it, it cranks and seems to function fine.

Let my preface this by asking if there is any Kawai action on this forum, or is it all sj's? Anyways, wondering if someone can help... A buddy has a '93 kawai 650 that his starter keeps getting hung up on. If you reach in there with a long screwdriver and give the starter casing a little tap...
