i would still put a little foam around the holds to reinforce them. it'll be high up in the hull so even if it gets wet the water will drain out.

100 psi is a bit low.130 and up for a 550. hold throttle wide open for pressure check.

there are no orings there on a 550. if it's leaking by the fuel pickup then there is a FLAT rubber gasket that fits under the plastic pickup. check for cracks everywhere as these tanks and pickups tend to dry out and leak.

it'll alter port timing so all he can do is recut the squish. try harry klemm at group k or dan at jet world i'm sure they still have the tooling for 550's . a decent machine shop could do it but probably more $$$ as they'll need to set it up.

the grate works well.depending on riding style the plate can help but the stock plate with a hole in it works well also.

his description of venting the tank isn't accurate. if the tank has pressure in it,it will not help the carburators get fuel as they return fuel to the tank as well so the whole system becomes pressurised negating the effect. use hylomar or even 5200 to seal it assuming the gaps aren't too...
