If its all stock from the factory that's the way they were all made. Some aftermarket shafts are made in one piece for this reason. Its more costly, but with higher hp, less failures there.

Bring it down sometime when were riding ill take a look. Make sure all lines are zip tied

When out its always a good idea to check shaft run out. a wobbling shaft can cause this issue if its bent enough.

Besides the above small sticks, midshaft, pump seal, pump alignment. Did you check drive shaft runout to confirm shaft isnt causing the cavitation

Right now im running a sj with 148 and a limited type set up 701 I think its great for surf. Flat will not make as much a difference i feel

If you are using a new OEM Yamaha Rubber/SS washer they have serrated rings on the side. They will drag on all pumps once the prop is tightened. This is normal, if it spins free before the washer is installed and they tight after youre fine as long as the prop isnt hitting anything. The OEM...
