i think any helmet would work just have to factor in the weight when water soaks into the padding. and shoes anything that covers your ankles. right now i am using the nike 6.0 wake skate shoes they have a lot of padding and comfort
all i know is that for me it doesnt matter how slow or glassy a wave is all that matters for me is how big the wave is compared to how deep the bottom is. surfing or jetskiing 15 foot surf in two feet of water really hurts.
