Or you could just look below the fuel pump on the carb and it will say some thing like
mac44 or mac46
Some times the letter are different, they will say 64x or 61x if its of that style engine
In which case you know its a 44.

You can run another ignition system on it as long as you are able to change the trigger point setting on the ignition.
The 760 run a 56 btdc lump on the flywheel. you just grind of the small one and away you go...

It just goes straight in. I was using a 760 ignition to make a programmable total loss with an sxr ignition on my open boat.
