Should the edges of the footholds be fitting tight up against the ski or should I have some gaps on the bottoms and back of the footholds that will get pulled tighter with the screws?

I have a 61x cylinder that I am going to get bored and honed but it already has some machining work done to it. Basicaly a cleanup port and the base where it meets the case has been milled. What is the deck height supposed to be and what problems would I run into if its too low? thanx Ryan
