obviously, you have to cap the hole in the hull. I would not cap the "T", remove it and install a hose from the exhaust outlet to the rear thru hull outlet.
if you do not want to use the switch junk it entirely. Go from the fuel pickups straight to the carburetor. (If single carb, use the Reserve line, and main feed). You can install a primer where the fuel switch was located.
Just remove the side exhaust and the "T" and route it like it came originally!!! I had side exhaust, it was great for competing in freestyle doing hood tricks, but loud as crap, last few months I had my SJ I had bypassed it!!!!!!!
