It does make considerably more room in the engine compartment though. Not that it matters that much.
FWIW, I mounted mine to the bulkhead and no problems.

It seems very weird to keep the bars low, though I know it is necessary.
My "preload" seems to extend my legs/ body from the ski.
Should I have my bars in my stomach when I launch, or is there a better way to change the axis of rotation.

Here are some clips from a friends helmet cam. My ski seems to point nose high. My ski has a cut ride plate and pump wedge with a stock RN pole w/ 4 deg. bars.
At around 0:18 I rode out but I landed tail heavy.
Any tips to help?
