shimming I assume your working on a SJ, and the answer is yes, shims everywhere, no experience starting from scratch, I'd guess start with no shims in the mid shaft and pump, try aligning the motor, if no luck shim pump and loosen mid shaft and shim as necessary to align. My 2 cents

I've used sherwin williams automotive paint, and it was a near perfect match. And as far as black, there are many shades of. I worked in the auto paint industry for about a total of 17 years. Black is probally the second worst color to white to color match.

I use a heat gun, plastic razor blade, gotta get the temp just right, so the decal doesn't fall apart, trying to get it to peel in the largest piece as possible, and use rapid remover(can be had at your local sign supply shop) to remove the excess glue.
