    Updated porting temp plate

You could drop it if you really wanted, but keep in mind these porting templates are designed to help your engine make real power — not just for a light clean-up. If you’re only planning a mild clean-up on a 61x, honestly, don’t bother. Instead, focus on tightening up the squish and bumping...

What Impeller for Stock Pump with 61x Engine and B-Pipe?

Ha ha When we talk about an impeller having “kick on the back”, they’re just talking about the way the trailing edge of the blades is shaped. Basically, the last bit of the blade is bent or “hooked” up slightly. It works kind of like adding cup on an outboard prop. That little curl changes how...

    760 OEM flywheel charging issues

Personally, if I was going to lighten a 760 flywheel, I’d just pick up another one and pull the magnets out of it. That way it’s a total-loss setup, and if you ever want charging back, you can just swap the stock flywheel back on. The reality is, the throttle response you’re chasing usually...

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

When people ask me why I rate the 46 mm Mikuni SBN so highly, it comes down to the balance between signal, throttle response, and airflow. Group K did a really detailed article on racing carburetors, and their numbers back this up. On their flowbench, the 46 showed a much stronger pilot signal...

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

Something else is wrong, there is no way that it would be rich at the point up top. I would say maybe you have to much water in there. a drippling needle and seat. maybe to much of a smaller restiction in the return. whats is the igniton curve you have in it ?? As a indication I have a ported...

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

ON a lites boat a 760 cylinder with the smallest base gasket you can find. I have a laser cutter so i made my own and a stock 760 head gasket the squish was to big, That being said they have a squish relief in the head so removing that would tighten it up some what, I use aftermarket girdle...

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

Youa re talkinag about water control and yes I thought about this a lot years ago. I used to worry about it a lot but it never seemed to be an issue and when i came out with out head a few months ago i didnt do it. I mean i could have changed it slightly to make more flow across the cylinder but...

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

Good point. i mean its the easier way if you dont want to machine. the bad thing is you are dropping the transfers down as well as the exhaust and thesea re already weak spots. I would be asking for a slightly thicker gasket than standard myself and machining more.

I need some knowledgeable opinions on 61x versus 62T -64X cylinders

You’re talking about I-body carbs there—they’re really just emission carbs and best avoided unless you’re in the alloy scrap business. The main issue with the 701 is that the cylinder is too tall to get the squish right using domes alone. A 0.010" gasket might get it there, but I’ve never tried...
