i wouldnt add anymore glass, thatll just be extra wieght. this will work. go turf it and ride. just sand all the way to the fiberglass next time, so there is no gelcoat between glass layers

uhh.. why did you rivet them in without putting epoxy mixed with filler in behind them? You should have mixed epoxy with silica filler and got a epoxy paste, spread it around the hull and back of holds. Then riveted them into place, this would have sealed around them, making the glass...

yup. on one of the local skis I ride with analog Msd TL it runs backwards sometimes in exactly the same situation. just shut if off and restart it- godoc is right, shouldnt be a problem
