Vote #2 for the stator.
As with any electrical problem I'd check all the connectors first but after that I'd say stator.
I went thru 2 or 3 stators in my 750sx back in the 90's. Kawasaki had problems with them back then.

Some good reading material for you.
This is the tuning manual from Mikuni.
http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/sbn_manual.pdf
Also when you need to look something up you can go to one of the many online microphish (sp) and get exploded view diagrams, part#s, prices etc.
I use Riva's Online...
Oh ya he's lucky that is for sure.
An R6 for sale. Send me the details and pics if you got them.
Yup still doing track days. I was on the track about 2 secs behind him when he crashed. Leg/knee is good or as good as it's going to get for an old guy like me.

Bike carnage (not mine). Was a 2005 honda 600rr.
Phil the rider is OK except for a few scrapes.
Ran two track days at Mosport raceway this week and one of the boys I went with toasted his bike bad.
He put it out the end of turn 2 which is a challenging high speed (4th gear) blind...
Same thing here on all the used machines I've ever brought across. Just the taxes no duty.

Maybe you should look for a ski thats a couple of years old thats got some mods unless you really want the new hull?

Most guys think they are going to go like a bat out of hell when they get to the track. This is not what usually happens. Most riders will not even drag there knee on their first day. It takes very little balls to go 130mph on the street. Now throw in a corner under hard braking at that...
I used to ride around sitting very upright. See pic below from the start of this year. Big difference! I had a real hard time finding a tuck position with my size and then it just happened one day.
Yup the suit is a MotoGp Kangaroo.
Never run the states but like I said before I really...
Chad,
Crashing their street bike is a big reason why guys don't go to a track day.
IMO there is very little chance or reason to crash on your first trackday.
Here's a few things to keep in mind if you go
1- #1 it's a track day not a race, everybody needs to go to work on Monday
2- don't...
Roo,
Check this out, from my last track day at Calabogie.
It was the first day I ever had the bike leaned over far enough where I was dragging my knee with the bikes fairings touching the inside of my knee.

Roo,
Nice pic.
I was just down at sportbike track gear today talking to Mike and picking up some parts for the gsxr.
Maybe I'll see ya at the track.

Sounds like the bendix to me.
If your starter spins and but doesn't turn over the motor it is usually caused by the bendix not kicking out and engaging the flywheel. A lot of times you can take out the bendix and clean/oil it and it will work fine for a couple more seasons.
