Because they ride a lot slower in surf and I want something that I can shred waves with instead of just bobbing around waiting for a wave to hit like I do now. I ride surf way more than the lake but I've seriously considered it though.
I think they over build them all. Has anyone ever broken a Rickter? I haven't heard of any. Only thing that comes to mind is excessive bottom wear from years of beaching with no poops given.

No tray stays perfectly water tight forever if the ski is used to it's potential. Polystyrene will at least keep the tray from getting completely full of water and make the ski heavy while riding it.

It was about as good as it gets here. Water was 76 degrees and air was about 70 degrees in January so there's that too.
