Mostly true. The thread size where the coupler goes on the shaft is smaller on the early SN mid shafts. So if you have a coupler they will interchange. Most aftermarket couplers like the Kawi style will fit only the newer larger midshaft threads. Edit - looks like Midlake crisis beat me on...
