Neilmed sinus rinse works great for me, have not had bad sinusitis for a year or so.

What ever it is it felt just like the rev limiter. I am not saying its definitely it just feels like it.

I am not sure but I believe when the rev limiter or over heat sensor kicks in it only produces an intermittent spark on one cylinder, this might be why your plugs look different.
