Thanks WFO. But these pads won't protect my knee from the handlepole coming down because these pads adhere to the hood not to the bottom of the handle pole. Any other suggestions?

Do NOT mod that FX-1 !!! An un-modded FX-1 is so rare as to be priceless. If you can learn to ride it, thereafter you can likely ride anything.
