Super Jet I probably suck at this 'Hacked' SN build

It would have been like an inch of filler to make it work out, so I'm going to bond the sides in and then fill the gap at the bottom. The floor is solid, it was damn hard to break a 2x0. 5 inch piece of it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

Super Jet I probably suck at this 'Hacked' SN build

Friday I cut the carbon floor to shape. Test fit the footholds and found there was about a 3/4inch gap from floor to footholds. I decided to just cut them at the floor and fill the gap later with material. I also sanded some more to prep for bonding everything.

Also, I'm very happy with the pole I just received from @SkiWorks Composites ! It is insanely nice and I kindof want to put it on a pedestal in my house. lol. Here's a quick mockup.

Super Jet I probably suck at this 'Hacked' SN build

Started building the floor to be cut and bonded in. Again, I have the BOB footholds and am going to do the kit in relatively standard fashion once the floor is bonded in. I did 16 layers of carbon which will end up being about 1/8" thick. To save some time and material, I went jenky. The roll...

    550sx won't run in water

So, at stock settings and substantial adjustments in carb setting for high and low screws, it only goes about 5 mph and doesn't change between 3/8-WOT. I'm going to do a leakdown test and see if it's the crank seals. I thought maybe it was rev limiter, so I disconnected it with no change. If...

    550sx won't run in water

Ended up just bending it back and bolting it on in a way that covers the hole. Found out it was quite plugged and ran great on the stand after a cleaning. I'll put it in the river to verify tonight.

    550sx won't run in water

Put new reeds in and rebuilt the carb. Had the stiff spring in and read 26-28psi popoff. When I rebuilt the carbs I noticed the metal check valve had part of it missing and I accidentally(stupidly) bent it slightly while inspecting it. I wasn't able to get it to stay running off of idle. It...

Super Jet I probably suck at this 'Hacked' SN build

here's the bottom and first side layer. I have more done, but this is the latest pic. I filled the bond rail, the area between hood channel and sides, and flattened out the chines (all with cabosil/epoxy mix) to get the carbon to lay better. Didn't quite work out, but it'll be tough, and the...

I ended up doing 2 layers of carbon. sides @ 45, bottom @ 45, sides @ 90 and bottom @ 90. The corners overlapped 1/2-3/4 of an inch onto the adjacent surface.

Got a bit more done this weekend. Lots of sanding, vacuuming, cleaning, then filled and reinforced the inside with carbon. It's going to be ok I hope, but not quite as nice as I'd hoped. It's tough to smooth out the rocker cuts and fill them to be even. Luckily all of this will be hidden :D
