those carbs are 38 not 44. 38 is 3 bolt holes on top. 44 and up are 4 bolt. You running a stock syphon/bilge? can you show us the other side of the pump from the back?

It is supposed to go straight through. It's restricted, a pretty small hole but you should see light through it and be able to shoot carb cleaner through it. I don't recall the size.

Inside holes are square nose hood prong location, outside is round nose hood prong location. maybe someone ran a round nose pole bracket at one time and moved the hood prongs out??
