Yep if it runs the same with hood off it's not exhaust, easy to test for sheared flywheel. Take a sharpy and draw a line on flywheel to case, then crank it. If the lines dont match up your ring gear may be slipping. Had this happen a few times.

Def sounds like exhaust leak, all the symptoms.

Not to burst your bubble but 12k isn't going to go far in the flatwater world. Plan on 15k minimum and you will most likely need a boat wake or a lot of practice to get one around. The good news is if you can bump that to ~20k you can buy a used world class comp boat that will tear your arms...

Someone tried that, didnt take off due to concern over the sensor triggering on a sub. Not sure anyone actually tested it though.

In all honesty, the only thing that gives me peace of mind while riding is insurance. PMI your ski before each ride. One of the float/retreiver things people have sold off and on is a good idea too imo. If you're riding a lake, riding with a gps watch wouldnt hurt so you could easily pinpoint...

Yea, i just insure mine lol. I also ride mostly shallow water and I am a diver so hopefully got my bases covered.

More partial to 13, but i dont think you can fit that many in there :D
