Uhh, no idea what that even means or what the benefits are.
I've never tooled around on anything and this is my first stand up. Always up for suggestions though, so fire away :-).
For those not following my misadventures, I just got this 1996 750 SXi that was sitting for a number of years.
Good news:
It started up easy.
Bad news:
It appears an oil line broke just from being old and getting crusty. Here are two pictures of I took, the first showing where the...
lol.....I bought the heat gun (B&D Heat Pro Deluxe) and the decals came off pretty damn easy this week (easier than my prom date if I remember correctly).
It is the glue they left behind. I have some "Sticker Shock" that I bought at Pep Boys before that I'm going to use to try to take off...
I'm in the process of taking all the decals off except the SXi. Its looking pretty cool but it seems like getting the actual glue off is the hardest part.
Ahh, no worries. I have everything drained and just grabbed the battery from my sitdown (duh!) so I will be giving it a go pretty soon...
I took a picture of the ski. Check it out:
I'm planning on taking all the decals off (not a big fan of purple and green). Not sure what I'll do after. I will probably leave the SXi on there though because I think that looks pretty cool.
I wouldn't mind giving Jetworks a try, does anybody know if the KB35XC will fit in a 1996 750 SXi? I was told a "regular" motorcycle battery won't fit in the ski and now I don't want to buy one until I know it will fit for sure.
Cool.
I'm in Marlton, NJ now and only stay down in Sea Isle during the weekends in the summer (I guess my "Location" is misleading).
Now to find a battery . . .
Well, I got a manual (my brother in law sent it up with the ski), so that is out of the way.
I went to Lowes and bought a siphon and got as much as the gas and oil out as I could, so that is taking care of.
I am not too crazy about the green and purple decals so I started to take some of them...
Well the ski arrived yesterday and I took a look under the hood and it is clean, clean, clean. I was so surprised how small it was even with the trailer as I was able to fit it with my couch in my garage (single car).
Now, what is the best way to get the gas and oil out, a siphon?
Sounds good, I'll start looking now because the ski is on its way . Any reccomendations?
I'd rather not get shot.
How hard is it to take the carbs out? Like I said, I'm a mechanical novice but am willing to give it a shot if I have some instructions. Is there any place that I can...
I just found out it is coming up with no battery. He is under the impression that any old motorcycle battery won't fit that I need to get one specifically for this model of ski. Is that correct?
Also, does anybody know a place in NJ where I can take this to have the carbs rebuilt? Is the new...
Well the time has finally arrived and I will officially become a standup owner in a few days.
My brother-in-law has a 1996 750 SXI that has been sitting in his parent's garage in Florida for the past 6 years and said its all mine if I want it. The ski apparently has about 30-40 hours on it...
